One tests positive of A(H1N1) flu
A Pangasinense recently tested positive for the Influenza A (H1N1) virus but is now well on the way to recovery, according to the regional director of the Department of Health (DoH).
Dr. Eduardo Janairo, DoH regional director, said out of the 12 patients from Pangasinan suspected to have been infected with A(H1N1), only one was found positive.
Janeiro reiterated calls from local health officials to the public that there is no cause for panic but that precautionary measures should be maintained.
The patient that tested positive arrived from a trip to Hawaii, USA and showed signs of the virus two days upon arrival.
The patient initially sought confinement at a district hospital in Pangasinan but was later transferred to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine.
“The patient is now okay,” he said but added that health authorities are undertaking contact-tracing to check others who may have acquired the virus.#
