YMCA karatekas score in 6th Rexona Karate Cup

YMCA-based karatekas continued to play quality game, scoring four gold, four silvers and five bronze medals in the 6th Rexona Karate Cup held November 23 at Xavier School, Greenhills in Metro Manila.

Team YMCA’s John Enrico Vasquez of Mother Goose Special Science System won the gold, Jeramiel Gutierrez of La Marea got the silver, and Mathew Serafica settled for bronze handily won in the 8-yearsold kata.

Matthew and John Enrico eliminated all opposition to arrange an all-YMCA finals winning the gold and silver respectively in the 6 to 7 years old boy’s kumite.

Jeramiel Gutierrez scored a silver in the 8 to 9 boy’s kumite.

Fidel Salvador Reyes of University of Luzon and Jayson Ramil Macaalay of University of Pangasinan arranged a showdown in the finals between them by clinching the gold and silver respectively. Macaalay also got the bronze in the kata.

Other medalists were: Kiefer Espino of Mother Lourdes, gold (9 to 11 years old), Raniela Isabel Gutierrez of La Marea, bronze (10 to 11 years old, girls) John Meverick Edralin of Lyceum Northwestern University Special Science, two bronze (12 to 14 advance kata and 12 to 13 boys kumite).

The event was participated in by La Salle, Xavier School, UP Diliman, Ateneo, Central Colleges of the Philippines, JKA Batangas, Palayan City, Nueva Ecija karate federation, Laguna karate federation, Angeles city-PASKA, YMCA-Dagupan City and PTKS Pasig City.#
