THREE mothers, assisted by their children, went home with cash prizes after winning in the “My-caroni salad-making contest”, an activity held in conjunction with the Dagupan City fiesta.

Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez and the City Nutrition Office hosted the cooking competition in cooperation with Lady’s Choice and Royal Macaroni on December 15 at the CSI the City Mall atrium.

Jennifer Mamaril of Barangay IV was declared winner, while Leonora Ragupana of Malued and Marlyn Tandoc of Bacayao Sur bagged the second and third prize, respectively.

Mamaril went home with P15,000 cash, Ragupana earned P10,000 and third placer Tandoc, P7,000. Non-winners did not go home empty-handed as each of them received P500.

Fernandez said the contest was held to teach households in Dagupan how to cook different varieties and versions of salad that are easy to prepare, affordable and nutritious.

The mother-child tandem concept was aimed at strengthening ties among the participating mothers and their children while sharing their culinary expertise in preparing salads using macaroni and mayonnaise as the main ingredients.

“It was a huge success and thank you to everyone who participated,” Fernandez said.

The competition was participated in by mother-child tandems representing the 31 barangays in the city.

The event showcased 31 different salad recipes that were served free to the public. #
