SAN CARLOS CITY–Better is more.

A case in point is the improved situation at the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital (PPH) in Barangay Bolingit. The ongoing expansion activities have increased the level of confidence of the sick here as evidenced by the surge in number of patients being served in the hospital.

Dr. Policarpio Manuel, officer-in-charge of PPH, said he noted the rise in people seeking medical attention from the hospital, from an average of 150 a day to 240 in recent months, soon after the expansion and improvement activities started.

Governor Amado Espino Jr. gave the improvement of all government hospitals in the province a top priority since he assumed office.

The PPH will soon have 250-bed facility from the previous 150 beds while additional wards of about 80 beds are now being built for geriatric patients.

Emergency, laboratory and X-ray rooms located in a building across the new dialysis building are now under construction and expected to be operational by early next year.

An improved out-patient department is also programmed to be opened next year, Manuel said.
