ALAMINOS CITY–This city, home of the Hundred Islands National Park, was adjudged as the best performing city in Pangasinan after it scored almost a clean sweep in the search categories set by the Regional Development Council and the National Economic and Development Authority for 2008.

In four search categories conducted among all four cities in the province, the local government unit of Alaminos, headed by Mayor Hernani Braganza, bagged three top awards.

The city’s “One System-One Government (OS-OG)” was ranked first in the Search for the LGU-Best Practices.

The OS-OG is a banner program of the city government here that seeks to attain the goal of the 10-point Agenda for Good Governance set by Braganza.

The program comprises the development and integration of various information system that could lead to the establishment of one database to be used by the city in decision-making processes.

Alaminos was also adjudged as the ‘Cleanest Coastal Area,’ and again bagged the ‘Cleanest Inland Body of Water’ award.

The city, however, settled for second place in the Search for the ‘Cleanest, Greenest and Safest City,’ yielding the top prize to Urdaneta City.

The award was presented by the Department of Interior and Local Government in Pangasinan headed by OIC Provincial Director Domiciano Soriano Jr. during the Barangay Captains’ Day held at Narciso Ramos Gym in Lingayen on December 11.

City Administrator Wilmer Panabang and city councilors Felimon Bacala Jr. and Helen Bumagat, president of the Liga Ng Mga Barangay chapter, received the awards in behalf of Mayor Hernani Braganza and the city government.
