Pangasinan has more “First Class” towns
LINGAYEN–Eleven municipalities in the province have been reclassified as first class after posting an annual income of P55 million or more over the three-year period starting 2004.
The former second class local government units (LGUs) that were upgraded are Manaoag, Binalonan, Binmaley, Mangatarem, Pozorrubio, Rosales, San Fabian, San Manuel, Umingan and Villasis.
It was San Nicolas that took a big leap from third to first class classification.
The re-classification is contained Under Memorandum Circular No. 01-M (58)-08 issued by the Bureau of Local Government Finance under the Department of Finance.
The existing first class towns include Bayambang, Bolinao, Calasiao, Lingayen, Malasiqui, Mangaldan, Sta. Barbara, and Sual.
Sual, host of the coal-fired power plant operated by Team Energy, reported the highest annual income at P110 million.
Meanwhile, also reclassified from third to second class for breaking into the income bracket of P45-million or more but less than P55 million, were Asingan, Bani, and Bugallon.
Reclassified from fourth to third class were Agno, Alcala, Anda, Dasol, Infanta, Mabini, Mapandan and San Quintin with income bracket of P35 million or more but less than P45 million.#
