PANGASINAN’s Pitaki Boyz cycling squad enplanes to Indonesia on November 22 to compete with the best in the world for this year’s Tour de Indonesia scheduled on November 23 to December 5.

The five-man Mangaldan-based riders sponsored by Jazy Sportswear/Beacon will be skippered by 2003 Tour Pilipinas titlist Arnel Quirimit of Pozorrubio with Merculio Ramos, Jr. of Binalonan, Ericson Obosa of Manaoag, Sherwin Carrera of San Fabian and Irish Valenzuela of Mangaldan.

The dreaded quintet, all former members of RP’s national team, placed fifth this year in the Tour de East Java held last April where they raced against the national squads of Kazakhstan, Switzerland, South Africa, Iran, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand and Indonesia.

The twelve-day bikefest will start at the capital Jakarta and finish at Kuta with a total distance of 1,723 kilometers.

“After this, our provincial squad will go to Hong Kong to join the 13th Tour of South China Sea slated December 14-21,” Garcia added.-JAGJr.
