LINGAYEN—November 14, a Friday, is a red-letter day in the province.

This was confirmed in a faxed letter signed by Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita in behalf of Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo declaring November 14, Friday, as non-working holiday to observe and celebrate “Pangasinan Day”.

The actual date of observance is November 13 that falls on Thursday, but the government’s policy promoting ‘economic holidays’ allowed it to be moved to the nearest weekend.

The Office of the Governor earlier requested the Office of the President to declare November 14 as a special non-working holiday “to enable the province of Pangasinan to celebrate the occasion and observe the holiday-economics policy”.

November 13 of each year is a public holiday in the province of Pangasinan in pursuant to Republic Act No. 6721 which was enacted on March 20, 1989.
