Common cable crossing pact OK’d
SOON there will be less cable poles erected and sights of dangling and crisscrossing cables and wires along Dagupan City’s major thorough fares will soon be a thing of the past.
This will be made possible by the memorandum of agreement signed on Tuesday by major power, telcos, internet and cable television players to finally clear the city’s skylines by agreeing to unload pre-identified electric poles with cables and wires which crosses streets in wild abandon.
The agreement was inked by Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr. representing the city.
The common cable crossing (CCC) development plan of the Unified Pole Attachment Scheme (UPAS) project was drawn up through the collaboration of the City Engineering Office, Dagupan Electric Corporation, PLDT, Digitel, Smart, Innove Communication,
Bayantel, PT&T, USATV and SkyCable.
Under the terms of the agreement, DECORP, grantee of a franchise to install, operate and maintain electric, heat, light and power service of Dagupan City, agreed to accommodate the attachments of the telcos, internet and cable television companies.
The franchise holders and operators of cable TV and telephone facilities have likewise agreed to remove and bundle their respective crossing cable and wires and transfer them to the CCC poles, and to retire and withdraw vacated poles, cable and wires to which they were previously attached to.
For its part, the city government will undertake the removal of protruding sign ages along AB Fernandez Avenue, Burgos Street, Perez boulevard and M.H. Del Pilar Street to clear the path where cable and telecommunication wires will traverse.
The city government completed the bundling and labeling of cables and wires along the central business district last year as part of its urban renewal project which also includes the construction of overpass bridges and the improvement of sidewalks and alleys. (CIO)
