Clean-up of Dagupan’s pigar-pigar seen
A MORE hygienic and appetizing pigar-pigar, a popular beef meat dish in Dagupan, will soon be introduced through stricter monitoring by the city government.
Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr., in anticipation of the city’s fiesta next month, has recently given a directive to several departments to make sure that pigar-pigar eateries are observing hygienic practices.
“The city will ensure that only delectable yet safe food, orderly and convenient environment, efficient services, accessible facilities and well-trained and properly-groomed food attendants, will be rendered by operators,” Fernandez said.
Fernandez also ordered the conversion of the joints selling pigar-pigar in street shoulders and sidewalks of Galvan Street into highly-maintained dining places.
“We will not tolerate unhealthy food-handling practices and will not allow even a single food-poisoning incident to arise,” said City Health Officer Dr. Leonard Carbonell.
Other departments that will be implementing the mayor’s order include the public order and safety, market division, waste management, anti-littering and Task Force Marshal
“We want the pigar-pigar area of the city to meet international standards – complying with the necessary food and environment regulations for it to be recognized internationally,” said City Administrator Alvin Fernandez.#
