CSI holds 2nd Sari-Sari Store Fair Oct. 24-26 for entrepreneurs
THOUSANDS of sari-sari store owners and prospective entrepreneurs are expected to participate in the 2nd Ilocos Region Sari-Sari Store Fair on October 24 to 26 in Dagupan City.
Dagupan City Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez said the three-day fair, a sequel to last year’s event, will be held at the CSI Stadia in Lucao, Dagupan City.
Fernandez is the president and chairman ofof Companies, owner of a chain of shopping malls, supermarkets and superstores in Dagupan, San Carlos, Alaminos and Urdaneta cities, Malasiqui and Bayambang as well as in San Fernando City, La Union, Baguio City and Candon, Ilocos Sur.
More than 100 suppliers from Manila will showcase their products while successful entrepreneurs will share their experiences in managing their businesses.
There will be seminars to teach participants simple bookkeeping and accounting, and developing marketing strategies to enhance the storeowners’ entrepreneurial and managerial skills.
Fernandez said the fair likewise seeks to position Dagupan as the leading city north of Manila in terms of trade and commerce.
She added that the fair is her own company’s contribution for the economic growth of Dagupan by creating more employment opportunities.
SARI-SARI
STORE QUEEN
The Sari-Sari Store Fair is a brainchild of Fernandez, who has earned the moniker “Sari-Sari Store Queen” for her role in stimulating the growth of sari-sari stores as a significant economic enterprise in the region.
Fernandez’ family built its fortune by supplying the needs of sari-sari stores all over Pangasinan since the early 70s started by patriarch Jimmy Fernandez.
For this reason, the sari-sari store owners have a special place in the heart of every member of the Fernandez family.
The vice mayor said for only P5,000, a family can start its own sari-sari store business right at their homes and with proper management, this can grow as proven by many entrepreneurs who had managed to prosper over the years.—LM
