LINGAYEN–Complementing the recent beautification and enhancement of buildings and surroundings in the capitol and seaside areas of this capital town, the local police force has launched its Lingayen Tourist Police (LTP) project as part of efforts to boost the local tourism industry.

P/Supt. Harris Fama, town police chief, said some of his personnel will undergo special tour guide training, including learning greetings in various foreign languages, and whose assignment will be to look after the welfare of tourists.

“I am sure local and international tourists will appreciate this,” Fama told The PUNCH.

The LTP will don a distinct blue t-shirt uniform marked “Pulis” at the front and back, black shorts and shoes, and will patrol on bicycles.

The initial LTP force composed of four non-commissioned officers has been on detail since August 23 and will be on detail 5:00-7:00 p.m on Fridays, and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends and during holidays

The LTP personnel will be deployed within the Capitol compound, neighboring schools and the beach area where American Gen. Douglas MacArthur and his forces landed to liberate the Philippines from Japanese occupation.#
