Firemen in hot water for late response; chief was 3 hours late

THE Calasiao fire department is under probe for alleged delayed response during the incident.

Mayor Roy Macanlalay told The PUNCH that Fire Chief Inspector Emilio Langkay and his men will be investigated separately by the local officials while another investigation is being conducted by the regional office of the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Langkay reportedly arrived at the scene around 4:30 a.m., three hours after the fire started, while those on duty at the fire station (located just behind the burnt town hall) reportedly only organized to put out the fire 30 minutes into the blaze.

The fire truck’s water gun and hoses also reportedly failed to function immediately. It took neighboring fire stations to help put out the fire.

“We’re still trying to document the reports of the people to us. Definitely, they (firemen) will be questioned,” Macanlalay said.

The local police will also be investigated as there are allegations they likewise failed to respond promptly to secure the fire scene. #
