LINGAYEN–Following the recent spate of shootings of political personalities, the provincial police command is set to hold a special security and protection training to 80 policemen and private bodyguards assigned to very important persons (VIPs) in the province.

The training will enhance the skills and knowledge of the security force, particularly standard procedures to be undertaken while protected subjects are on transit and when in a crowd.

Superintendent Reynaldo Biay, deputy provincial director for administration, noted that security details and bodyguards of local officials who were gunned down were caught flatfooted and were unable to fire back.

Among those recently killed were Agno Mayor Arthur Cabantac. Last year, San Carlos City Mayor Julian Resuello was shot during a town fiesta event at the city auditorium. #
