Tents serve as ‘classrooms’ in flooded school

The city government has set up four tents at East Central Elementary School to enable the resumption of classes even after the school went under water last week due to rise of tidal water and rains.

City administrator Alvin Fernandez dispatched the tents to serve as temporary shelter and ‘classrooms’ for 1,332 pupils and teachers of the flooded school.

Rising tidal water and big volume of rainfall during the past weeks worsened flooding inside classrooms.

Ma. Socorro Dimalanta, the school principal, thanked the city government for the prompt response to ensure the health and safety of school children.

Mayor Alipio Fernandez immediately directed the delivery of mixed gravel to fill the flooded campus and ease the inconvenience of school children. #
