DAGUPAN’s 600-strong workforce is set to turn a new leaf in public governance when the city government’s Result Performance Monitoring System becomes operational this month.

Considered as a first in the city’s 60-year history, the highly competitive and merit-based system seeks to raise the performance of employees above satisfactory level.

“We are set to honor the new class of workers who are competent, confident, and courteous and caring, who consistently demonstrate first rate public service as a way of life,” said City Administrator Alvin Fernandez.

The city government will confer recognition to employees and sections every month for their outstanding performance.

Fernandez said the results of the evaluation will aid the city’s human resource management office in determining if the work performed by the employee remains consistent with their individual job description.

The new system is part of the expanded human resource development strategy undertaken by the 14-month old administration of Mayor Alipio Fernandez.

This includes the daily performance reporting system and the series of customer satisfaction and managerial skills development trainings conducted by the city’s Active Learning Team.—CIO
