Bead-making for womenfolk
MANGALDAN–Bead-making will be introduced as a livelihood project for women in the 4th District through the initiative of Gina de Venecia, wife of the District’s Rep. Jose de Venecia Jr.
Mrs. De Venecia said she herself took a hands-on bead-making class so that she can personally teach the women who will be participating in the project.
“Women should earn something right in their homes while taking care of their children and their husbands are earning a living somewhere else,” she said.
The project will also help the women market their products as De Venecia pointed out that there is a big demand for decorative beads as bracelets and necklaces both here and abroad.
She added plans are afoot to ask the Department of Trade and Industry to include bead-making under the government’s One Town One Product program.—LM
