2 killed, 3 hurt in bus accident

LINGAYEN–Two bystanders were killed while three others were injured when a passenger mini-bus rammed a waiting shed in barangay Poblacion West, Labrador last Wednesday.

Police identified the fatalities as Lina Singueo and Dominga Marayag while the three injured victims are Erlinda Singueo, Rosalinda Singueo, and Reina Cabalquinto, all residents of said place.

The bus, Bolinao Transit Express with license plate number AVN-287 and driven by Narciso Calisaan, 29, of Bolinao, was cruising the highway when control of its front wheels malfunctioned causing the driver to lose control and ram a waiting shed where the victims stood.

The police will file a case against the owners for the bus company and the driver.

BAYAMBANG

Meanwhile, a 78-year-old farmer riding a bicycle died after he was hit by a privately-owned jeep along the road in barangay Buayaen, Bayambang Monday afternoon.

Police identified the fatality as Pedro Diaz, 78, of said place while the driver of the vehicle involved was identified as Amor Esteban, 25, of barangay Bilad, Camiling, Tarlac.

Investigation showed the victim was riding a bicycle and about to turn left when he was hit by the vehicle driven by Esteban who was then tailing him.

The victim died while being transported to a hospital in Dagupan City.

Esteban was detained by the police custody pending completion of the investigation.—CSR
