Yao, ex-city dad, writes 30

FORMER Dagupan Councilor Manuel A. Yao Jr. has joined his Creator on July 17 due to lingering illness. He was 52.

His remains lie at Funeria Quiogue on A.B. Fernandez Avenue East and interment will be at the Eternal Gardens on July 24, 2008 at 8:00 a.m. after a mass at the St. John Cathedral.
Born September 8, 1955, Yao was a student leader and journalists before he ran for a council seat and won in only his first try at politics.

Until his death, Yao was active in the Junior Chamber International as past president of the Dagupan Bangus Jaycees where he was multi-awarded.

He was adjudged Most Outstanding JCI Chapter President of the World in 2002 and later served as National Executive Vice President of JCI Philippines.

After leaving politics, he went back to writing and was managing editor of “La Isla”, official in-flight magazine of Air Philippines; and editor-in-chief of “Island Philippines”, official publication of the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines.

Yao was also the author of a tourism travel book directory.

He is survived by his wife Sonia Garvida-Yao and children Ma. Kalvin Mason, Manuel Mason and Dipsi Mason,and other relatives.#
