SAN CARLOS CITY–Frustrated over the still unresolved killing of his father, Mayor Julier Resuello has now appealed to Philippine National Police Chief Director-General Avelino Razon Jr. for help.

Resuello told local newsmen on July 22, the 56th birth anniversary of his father, the late Julian “Jolly” Resuello, that the last update he received from the provincial police was five months ago.

Meanwhile, Senior Supt. Isagani Nerez, police provincial director, said the police, particularly the task force formed for the case, said efforts are continuing in hunting down the suspects, particularly the mastermind.

“We’ve been through several areas, provinces in our manhunt operations,” Nerez told The PUNCH.

He added that they need more cooperation from the people, especially from the Resuello family, in providing more vital information related to the killing which to this day is believed to be politically-motivated.

The provincial chief also believes there are people who hold the key to the solution of the case but have not yet come forward.

“Perhaps, a good motivation will make them turn around in favor of the Resuellos. This is now the challenge to all of us who are concerned about the solution of the case,” Nerez said.

Nerez said it may be easy to accuse someone as the mastermind but this should be supported by strong evidence.

The elder Resuello was gunned down inside the city plaza during the town’s fiesta celebration in April last year, which was also campaign season for the May 2007 elections

He was then running as vice mayor after completing successively his three terms as mayor.

The incumbent mayor said President Gloria Arroyo has increased the reward for the capture of the other suspect. #
