A female Malaysian, suspected of illegal recruitment operations and large scale estafa, was nabbed on July 8 in the Dagupan City.

The suspect, Ong Siew Lian, 49, was brought to Camp Crame in Manila after her arrest by combined elements from the Office of the Vice President, Anti Crime Trans Division-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (ACTD-CIDG) in Camp Crame and the local CIDG.

P/Supt. Crispin Cruz, team leader of CIDG of Dagupan, said P/Sr. Supt. Gilbert Sosa, head of the ACTD-CIDG in Crame who led the operation, is now preparing to file charges against Ong based on complaints from several victims.

The case against Ong stemmed from the complaint filed by Edonna Corpuz of Barangay Calmay in Dagupan and Ferlina de Leon of Barangay Guiguilonen, Mangaldan town.

Her victims claimed she was demanding P150,000 to P200,000 for them to go to Malaysia as tourists and with the assurance that she will find employment for them.

De Leon said Ong placed her as a housemaid in Malaysia and was allegedly not paid salary by her employer and most of the time without food.

De Leon was able to escape with the help of some Filipinos in Malaysia.

Ong, reportedly does not hold a recruitment license from the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, was caught in an entrapment operation. #
