Dagupeño doctor now anti-drug crusader in U.S.
A FORMER doctor at the Region I Medical Center in Dagupan City is now making waves in the United States as a top Drug-Free World crusader.
Dr. Alfredo Quinto, who was officer-in-charge of R1MC’s Drop-in Counseling Center, was recruited in 1997 by the International Narcotic Enforcement Officers’ Association (INEOA) of New York where he is an active speaker in its anti-drug awareness program.

Quinto now conducts lectures in Baldwin Park Unified School District Adult and Community Education/Adult Career Training Center in Baldwin Park, California and the Health and Wellness Ministry of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Moreno Valley, California, and other parts of the U.S.
He received an international commendation award from INEAO President Michael Harris of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for his dedication to community awareness on drug abuse and prevention during their 47th Annual International Drug Enforcement Training Conference at Hyatt Regency in Phoenix, Arizona in October 2006.
He financed the production of flyers and brochure entitled “Go For Drug-Free World” which he distributes in schools, restaurants, churches and some commercial stores.
As a former professional singer in the Philippines, he composed an anti-drug song called “Kapatid” (Brother) which has English, Filipino and Spanish lyrics
He sings the song in every anti-drug symposium he attends.
For this, he was named one of the Great Achiever Awardees in the Annual U.S.-Philippines Expo 2007 as an educator/drug awareness advocate.
As part of his information drive against drugs, Quinto had caused some of his articles on drug abuse prevention to be published in newspapers in Southern California.
Before migrating to the U.S., Quinto received a national award from the Dangerous Drugs Board in 1995 for his outstanding contribution and dedication to drug prevention.
He was also conferred with a lifetime achievement award as JC senator by the Junior Chamber International—LM
