By Perla A. Torres
“Good Grooming Para Kay Ading” project was launched at the Salapingao Elementary School (SES) as part of its Brigada Eskwela 2008 program.
The project, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus District L- 36, Msgr. Antonio Padilla, and the North American Martyrs Council of Niles, Illinois, was aimed at improving pupils’ grooming and personal hygiene.
The pupils received toothpaste, toothbrush, talcum powder, pony tail holders, nail cutters soap, nail brush, sets, combs, face towels and grooming baskets donated by the KC.
Maria Linda Ventenilla, school principal, and Perla Torres, school project organizer, led the fifteen female SES teachers, parents, and some members of the community in teaching the school children the proper way of brushing teeth, cleaning and care for hand and nails, as well as proper way of hair grooming/ styling.
Some members of the community who have skills in haircutting rendered their services for free on that day.
Each of the teachers was provided with grooming kits for their use on the pupils. #
