RCUD 2000 garners nine major district awards
THE Rotary Club of Uptown Dagupan 2000 garnered nine awards from the Rotary International’s local district for Rotary Year 2007-2008.
The club RCUD 2000, under the presidency of Dr. Lucy Honrado, was cited as the Outstanding Club of the Year Award and Honrado, the eighth president of the club since its founding, was herself cited as the Outstanding Club President.
The other awards received by RCUD were: Outstanding Club Secretary, Outstanding Projects in Community Service, Human Development and in Health and Hunger Recognition.
HONRADOIt was also adjudged one of the12 top clubs cited by the Rotary Foundation and a recipient of the Rotary Foundation Service Award.
RCUD 2000 conducted a two-month feeding program in schools and day care centers that benefited 2,500 children all over Dagupan.
Honrado said feeding as well as dental health are RUCD’s continuing programs aiming to help reduce malnutrition and promote good dental health to pre-schoolers.
The club also assisted 32 day care centers, conducted storeowners’ seminar, sponsored film showing to 2,500 children and distributed relief goods to fire victims on Arellano Street in Dagupan.
Dr. Marietta Sorio, vice president of the University of Pangasinan, was also adjudged outstanding area governor.
Rachel Coquia, manager of the Bank of Philippine Islands-Family Bank, replaced Honrado as RCUD 2000 president.
Honrado has just been inducted president of the Philippine Dental Association, Pangasinan Chapter for fifth time.—LM
