University of Luzon opens in June … in Pozorrubio
POZORRUBIO—The University of Luzon is opening a new campus here in June, offering the usual regular college courses and DepEd’s pet project of a ladderized education.
UL officials said evening and weekend classes for graduate and post-graduate courses may also be introduced later.
The Samson-Reyna clan, majority stockholders of the university, had already made their mark in the history of this town when, in an unprecedented move, UL Vice-President for Academic Affairs, and also Director of the Mother Goose Special School System, Inc. Mrs. Aurora Samson-Reyna opened a campus in June last year, the first that is not located within a city.
UL will be housed in a new three-storey building in the 2nd class town, along the national highway, a stone’s throw away from the Cablong crossing providing students from Sison, Binalonan and other nearby towns easy access.
The Sangguniang Bayan of Pozorrubioearlier passed two resolutions requesting the university to open an extension school and to allow Mayor Emma Zosima Chan to implement the Memorandum of Agreement.
Mayor Emma Chan said it is a dream come true, not only for her administration but for the parents and the college students of the town.
Parents in the past had to spend more to send their children to colleges in Dagupan.
The establishment of a facility of the university in Pozorrubio was in fact a priority of Chan’s administration which she listed in her major developmental plan submitted to Governor Amado Espino, Jr. last April 14.- EMMANUELLE
