SAN CARLOS CITY-It was both a fulfilling and sad occasion.

Mayor Julier “Ayoy” Resuello shed tears as he led the unveiling of his late father’s bust at the city auditorium to honor his father, Mayor Julian “Jolly” Resuello, who was gunned down last year.

“Until now, it’s hard to accept what had happened to him for he had done so many good things for San Carlos City,” the young Resuello said.

The former mayor was killed last year during the city’s fiesta celebration at the auditorium at the height of the electoral campaign. He was running for the vice mayor post, having completed the maximum three three-year terms.

Another monument has been built in front of the city plaza he built during his reigh.

The young Resuello said his family is saddened by criticisms from their political enemies about the cost of building these memorials.

“But ask anyone from San Carlos, young and old alike, Mayor Jolly is our hero,” Ayoy said.

Resuello said balikbayans from the United States helped finance the construction of the bust while the monument was funded by the city.

He urged the people to stop politicking and instead concentrate on moving the city forward.

UNRESOLVED

Resuello reiterated his family’s disappointment, too, over the police authorities’ failure to resolve the case.

One suspect, Angelito Soriano, has been arrested but the main gunman, named Kabesa, remains at large. The police have also yet to identify the mastermind.

Resuello insists that politics was the motive behind his father’s murder.#
