Reggie Ubando, 40, city environ chief, passes away

CO-workers in the city government and friends gathered on Monday night to pay their last respects for Dagupan’s waste management division chief Reggie Ubando who died on May 4 due to cardiac arrest.

Peers described Ubando, 40, as “an outspoken, intelligent, caring and tireless leader dedicated to his work and fellow workers.”

In his eulogy, Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr. said Ubando was a cut above the rest” in serving the city and fellow Dagupeños.

“He led a life that inspired others,” he said.

Fernandez acknowledged Ubando’s exemplary contribution in facilitating the city’s waste management and development strategies, as well as its emergency and disaster preparedness efforts during severe weather disturbances affecting the city.

“He seasonably updated our database system with all available forecasts. Reggie helped us greatly in initiating preparedness,” the mayor said.

Ubando entered the government service in 1994. He was a civic leader, a former professor, and active member of the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists (PAMET).

Before his demise, he was the operations chief of the city’s Emergency Operations Center, team leader and member of the Technical Working Group for Project PROMISE.

Ubando’s assistant, Ronald De Guzman, has been named officer-in-charge.#
