‘Operation Smile’ here for kids on May 15-16
AFTER steering the successful Dagupan Bangus Festival, Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez is off to another public service event.
This time, Fernandez is set to launch another big project, ‘Operation Smile’, on May 15 to 16, to help children suffering from cleft palate since birth.
Operation Smile, another project of the Dagupan City government headed by Mayor Al Fernandez, supported by Vice Mayor Fernandez’ CSI Group of Companies and the Inner Wheel Club headed by Mrs. Elmina Fernandez, in cooperation with the Operation Smile Foundation (OSF), was already on deck even before the planning stage of the 2008 Dagupan Bangus Festival.
Fernandez called on parents to register their children with the City Health Office to avail of the free operation from Operation Smile Foundation (OSF).
“We have now only a few children in Dagupan with cleft palate so we would like to take on children from other towns”, said Fernandez.
Registration and initial screening for children with cleft palate started May 7 and will continue till May 14.
The team from OSF will do the final screening as soon as it arrives on May 14 and surgery will commence on May 15-16.
The surgery including medicines will be provided free to the qualified patients.—LM
