Manila players dominate Mayor Al’s Bowling Cup
RATED bowling players from Manila dominated both Groups I and II in the Mayor Al Fernandez Bowling Cup held from April 22 to 27 at the CSI the City Mall as part of the Dagupan Bangus Festival.
About 100 players from Manila, Makati, Baguio, Batangas and other parts of the country participated in the tournament, also known as the 6th DATBI (Dagupan Tenpin Bowling Inc.) – CSI Invitational Open Championship.
Group 1, composed of veteran and seasoned players, was won by Benson Co of the Manila Tenpin Bowling Association (MTBA), bagging the grand prize of P60,000 Joonee Gatchalian of MTBA-Henrich bagged the first runner-up prize of P30,000 while Kevin Cu of TBAM (Tenpin Bowling Association of Makati)-PRIMA pocketed the second runner-up prize of P20,000.
Third runner-up was Raoul Miranda of MTBA-RP National Squad for P10,000; while Liza del Rosario of the TBMA-PRIMA-RP National Squad was fifth runner-up with P5,000; and Kim Lao of Batangas-PRIMA RP National Squad placed 7ths with P4,000. .
In Group 2, Liza Vicente of TBAM-PRIMA bagged the grand prize of P30,000 while teammate Joylyn Yambao bagging the first runner-up prize of P20,000. Second runner-up was Jay Carabeo of Magallanes Bowling Association for P10,000 while Renz Taylo of TBAM-PRIMA-PJB bagged the fourth runner-up prize of P4,000.
Only DATBI’s Mike Sim, a local businessman, stood out among the locals when he bagged the 5th runner-up prize of P3,000.
Prizes were awarded to the winners by Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr. and Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez , chair of the executive committee of the Dagupan Bangus Festival, and Councilor Danilo Torio, event chair.—LM
