Rosales predicts boom from SM branch opening

ROSALES–SM will just be the beginning.

Rosales Mayor Ricardo Revita believes that the branch of Shoe Mart Inc. (SM) expected to open here on or before December this year, will prove to be a “strong magnetic force” that will attract other investors and help develop the town’s economy.

“With the opening of SM, we expect Rosales to boom commercially,” Revita said, adding that the agricultural economy of the town must be able to support the needs of migrants who will work and live in the town.

The town’s land use plan reserved enough land for agro-industrial, commercial, residential and eco-tourism zones.

Rosales, the gateway to Pangasinan and the North Luzon Growth Quadrangle from Manila, is an agricultural town and is the leading producer of hybrid rice in Pangasinan and Region 1.

The reported establishment of two agro processing plants whose products can be channeled to the export market through the San Fernando City in La Union and Subic in Zambales is now awaited by the officialdom.— LM
