Alaminos expands feeding program coverage
ALAMINOS CITY—At least 12,000 public elementary school children here will be covered by the city government’s feeding program when classes begin in June.
Mayor Hernani Braganza told newsmen the feeding project, which has been ongoing for the last three years, is part of the local government’s program to help the impoverished families.
Previously, only malnourished children were covered but the program has now been expanded to include all children attending first to sixth grade.
The school children will be provided with free lunch three times a week and Braganza believes this arrangement serves as a new incentive for the students to come to school.
“Marami kasi sa mga bata tumutulong sa pagsasaka sa kanilang mga magulang at mayroon ding mga bata na ‘di pumapasok dahil hindi nakakain at para maibsan ang problema sa pagkain,” Braganza said.
Given the limited funds, however, the program will only last until December. –CSR
