SAN CARLOS CITY–A year after Mayor Julian Resuello was brutally gunned down here, the police have yet to close the case, but his son, current Mayor Julier Resuello, has taken steps to curb violence.

The young Resuello, taking to heart the bitter lesson of his father’s murder, helped finance the training of 23 policemen who recently joined the ranks of the elite Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) group of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

“Now our policemen are better trained and equipped to respond to any emergency to maintain peace and order,” he said.

Mayor Armand Domantay of neighboring Malasiqui town pitched in as well.

The SWAT graduates are composed of 15 policemen from this city, six from Malasiqui, and one each from Binmaley and the police provincial office.

Senior Superintendent Isagani Nerez, police provincial director, thanked the mayor for the financial help and said the SWAT training is actually part of the PNP’s Transformation Program.

Resuello also issued new weapons to the SWAT graduates.

Chief Superintendent Romeo Hilomen, regional police director, who was guest of honor and speaker during the graduation ceremony, called on the new SWAT members to maintain the physical and mental lessons they learned from their rigid training.#
