GRADUATION DAY

LINGAYEN-A simple graduation rite that will not require contributions from students and their parents was ordered for all schools in Pangasinan 1 school division.

Pangasinan 1 Division Superintendent Alma Ruby Torio issued the order as she announced that the graduation exercises in elementary and high school in Pangasinan 1 school division will start on March 25.

She said the holding of simple graduation rite is consistent with the policies given by Education Secretary Jesli Lapus which she relayed on March 12 to more than 700 school heads in her division.

“While there will be no required contributions as graduation fee, voluntary contributions from the Parents, Teachers and Community Association (PTCA) are, however, being encouraged,” Torio said.

“Only simple graduation rite is required. It is enough that we give honor to graduates and their parents,” Torio said.

She expects the teachers and school heads to collaborate with their respective PTCAs for the holding of simple graduation exercises.

Torio said there are some 25,000 who are graduating this school year in some 700 schools in Pangasinan 1 Division.

It is about the same number of graduates in Pangasinan II, which is under another division superintendent. – LM
