RESIDENTS of Pangasinan need not go to Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Nevada or a mall in Manila to watch live the second encounter between Filipino ring icon Manny Pacquiao against Mexican Super featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez on March 16.

Urban Satellite Vision, Inc. (USATV), one of the biggest cable television company in Northern Luzon, will bring the live Marquez-Pacquiao II right in their living room on Community Channel 6.

Marquez and Pacquiao fought the first time around in 2004 that ended in a controversial draw despite Pacquiao knocking down Marquez three times only in the first round.

USATV inked the contract with Solar Access, the firm that will bring the live feed of the fight from Mandalay Bay.

Kerwin Fernandez, USATV president and general manager, said his firm will bankroll the cost of the live feed at no cost to subscribers.

Subcribers can watch the Marquez-Pacquiao fight without any cut or interruption, except in-between rounds to allow the insertions of a few local commercials.

Fernandez said USATV is also planning to put up a giant screen at the CSI the City Mall in Lucao, Dagupan, its sister company, to enable early shoppers to also watch the fight live.

USATV’s last contract with Solar Access was the return bout between Pacquiao and Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera which was won by the Filipino southpaw via a unanimous decision.

USATV has subscribers in Dagupan City, Calasiao, Sta. Barbara, Mapandan, San Jacinto, Mangaldan, San Fabian, San Carlos City, Malasiqui, Bayambang, Bautista, Urdaneta City, Binmaley and Lingayen.

USATV is soon extending its services to Labrador via Domalandan, Lingayen, then to Sual in the north and Bugallon in the south with a plan to extend the line up to Mangatarem, then Urbiztondo.—LM
