VM Fernandez: USA roadshow was successful
2008 BANGUS FESTIVAL
Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez and Councilor Alfie Fernandez, chairperson and vice chair person, respectively, of the 2008 Dagupan Bangus Festival, are back after an almost two-week roadshow in the United States where they promoted the festival to overseas Dagupeños.
The two officials were reportedly warmly received by members and officers of the Dagupeños associations in San Francisco, San Diego, California, and other parts of the U.S. West Coast, whom they have invited to come home for the Bangus Festival slated from April 16 to March 4.
Vice Mayor Fernandez affirmed the continued strong bond among overseas Dagupeños as shown by the warm reception accorded them wherever they went.
She and Councilor Fernandez invited the overseas Dagupenos to return to the city next month to grace the 2008 Bangus Festival which has been billed as a regional celebration and the traditional “Pista’y Dayat” slated on May 1.
The vice mayor said the U.S.-based Dagupenos assured the city government of their prayers for the success of the Bangus Festival being held for the first time under the administration of Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr.
The festival opens on April 16 with the holding of the Gilon-Gilon Ed Baley street dancing competition and will be graced by artists from ABS-CBN. The Great Dagupan Day Sale and Bangusfest Foodstrip on Galvan Street will be part of the opening day’s celebration.
Cue artists from the region will see action in the Bangusfest Billiard Challenge at the Big Atrium of CSI the City Mall with the Tunog Bangus Battle of the Bands on April 17.
The Dagupan Pinoy Pop Idol will take center stage in the evening of the following day.
