CLOSURE OF LUCAO-TAPUAC ROAD

LINGAYEN- Please bear with us.

Thus appealed District Engineer Rodolfo Dion of the Pangasinan Second Engineering District amid complaints and objections of businessmen and commuters to his agency’s plan to close a portion of the busy Lucao-Tapuac highway for 60 days beginning March 3.

The closure of the road is intended to give way to the construction of a P20-million drainage system and road elevation.

A 650-meter long road stretch will be totally closed and traffic will be re-routed to the De Venecia Highway up to Malued district for vehicles to and from the western areas.

The road will be elevated by 70 centimeters.

In an interview with The PUNCH, Dion said closing the road to traffic is a small sacrifice to put an end to the recurring flooding in the area.

Dion said, “Now that we are giving a lifetime solution to their problem, they attack us,” adding, “It’s just a little sacrifice, after which there will be lasting convenience for all.”

He said their plans are coordinated with the City Engineer’s Office in Dagupan City. #
