THE Pandaragupan Concert Series 2008 sponsored by the Pangasinan Youth Orchestra, Inc. (PYO), was a stunning success based on the raves of crowd that attended its launching last January 21 at the Cherished Moments School in Mangaldan.

The first concert, in collaboration with the National Commission on Culture and the Arts (NCAA), had the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPC) brass ensemble playing.

“The main goal of the Pangasinan Youth Orchestra is to raise funds for it to continue with its project of teaching talented but less fortunate musicians,” said Jigs Seen, co-founder of the PYO.

Seen and fellow founder Professor Adolfo Mendoza said they seek to make talented children of less fortunate families in Pangasinan to become great musicians in the future.

During the launching of the concert series, members of the PPC led by Benedicto de la Peret played the bass instrument with Ernani Pascual playing the French horn.

Alejandro Perez played the trombone and Globar Calambro and Edwin Matias, the trumpet.

The next concert will be held at the Ednas School in Alaminos City on February 18.
