LINGAYEN–It was “win some, lose some” for the Espino administration and the provincial police.

Local police arrested two persons, one of them a suspect in a shooting incident late last year, in Sual town on January 28 following an order from Governor Amado Espino Jr. for a vigorous campaign against loose firearms.

Meanwhile, three people died in two separate shooting incidents in the towns of San Manuel and Calasiao.

P/Chief Insp. Medardo Soriano, Sual PNP chief of police, identified the gun-wielding suspects as Samson Berk, 25, alias Edwin Tisoy, and Richard Tamayo, 19, both of Dagupan City.

Soriano said the two were arrested by policemen who conducted “Oplan Bakal” at the Anahaw Videoke Bar in Sual. The two were found possessing unlicensed handguns.

Confiscated from the two were a cal.45 and cal.38 revolvers.

Soriano said that Berk was positively identified by a daughter of a shooting incident victim as the one who shot dead her mother on the night of December 16 last year.

Berk denied the allegation.

Another companion of the two suspects, identified as Jerry Martinez, was also held for possessing a motorcycle without proof of registration and driving without a license.

The police have filed the charges against the suspects.
