City to host ICT congress
More than 5,000 delegates are expected attend the two-day 2008 Regional Information and Communications Technology Congress on February 26-27 at the People’s Astrodome in Dagupan.
Organized by Medialink Events Management, internationally-recognized computer, broadband and ICT experts have been invited to participate in the event.
Among the prominent sector personalities who are expected to attend the convention include ICT Commissioner Monchito Ibrahim, Commission on Higher Education Director Evelyn Pascua, Broadband Philippines Founder Jose de Venecia III, Globe Philippines Vice President Jones Campos, Department of Trade and Industry Director Florante Leal, Bitstop Communications COO Wilson Chua, and Psite president Reynaldo Jay Hidalgo.
Mayor Alipio Fernandez said the event will enable the participants to speed up business growth in their respective work places, citing the emerging supremacy of the north in hi-tech systems.
Governor Amado Espino Jr., himself a computer-run organization advocate, said he will ask all municipal governments in the province as well as his staff at the Capitol to participate in the 2-day congress.
Mayors Hernani Braganza, Amadito Perez, Julier Resuello, Jonas Castaneda, Sammy Rosario, Mojamito Libunao, Herminio Romero, Roy Macanlalay, Nestor Pulido have also endorsed the 2-day congress.
Kharmina Velasco, congress executive director, said participants from Region I who man the information and communications centers in Northern Luzon and their other work places, will always have the edge over their counterparts.
A similar ICT congress was held here two years ago with former President Fidel V. Ramos, former Governor Oscar Orbos, and businessman Jose de Venecia III among the speakers.
Velasco added, we cannot compete globally without our working knowledge about ICT.
Pheha Lagao, Media Link marketing executive, indicated that most universities and colleges in Pangasinan, and government and private offices have signified their participation in the congress.
