New plan for Tondaligan Park set into motion

TO the relief of city workers, the owners of the remaining old and unsightly picnic sheds at Tondaligan Park in Bonuan Gueset offered no resistance when the deadline for their demolition lapsed.

Councilmen Eddie de Vera and Roger Ceralde said owners of the sheds voluntarily tore down their sheds and beat a bulldozer from doing it for them, to pave the way for the implementation of the re-development plan.

Barangay Chairman Angelito Gumarang said the move is part of the re-development plan of the Tondaligan Park now being implemented by the city government in order to attract more tourists to the city.

The councilmen said the newly vacated areas will be leveled and converted into a long bay walk for Tondaligan visitors.

The owners of the sheds blown by the storm surge were already stopped from rebuilding their sheds and those that were recently demolished by their owners were those that survived the storm.

The new plan will feature uniform sheds with no wall partitions walling and this time, set back a few meters from the beach shoreline.

De Vera and Ceraldesaid with the unsightly sheds gone, the sea is now very visible from the outside and look forward to the establishment of a new Tondaligan Park that would be a pride ofDagupan City.

The two credit City Administrator Alvin Fernandez for initiating the plan.—LM
