A MOBILE day care center will soon be put into operation by the city government as part of its continuing effort to make Dagupan a most child-friendly city.

Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez said the mobile day care center is among the priority projects planned by Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr. for 2008 to reinforce his ongoing program for children in the city.

The mobile day care center will be housed in an air-conditioned container van loaded in a truck. It will reportedly be the first of its kind in Northern Luzon.

Vice Mayor Fernandez said the van will visit all 31 barangays in the city to care for children of pre-school age whose parents are working.

The van will be loaded with various teaching aids that will help enhance the early education of the children.

The vice mayor said the mobile day care centers will complement the ser vices of existing day care centers located in different barangays of the city, some operated by the city and others operated by private companies as part of their corporate responsibilities in their communities.

Under his plan for 2008, Mayor Fernandez also envisions to strengthen existing day care centers and renovate their current infrastructures.—LM
