REVENUE collection in Dagupan City reached P407.8 million in 2007, a 9.10% or P34.1 million increase from the previous year.

Records released by the One-Stop Business Center (OSBC) show that the increase came mostly from real property, business and community taxes as well as miscellaneous fees collected by the city government.

Real property tax collections posted a 12.46% increase or P3.1 million higher than last year’s collections.

Total collections from business tax and licenses reached P93.7 million, higher than last year’s total collection of P85.6 million.

Community tax collections also showed a 2.09% improvement, equivalent to P103, 281.

However, miscellaneous fees slightly decreased by 7.52% or P4.5 million as compared to the 2006 collections.

Also registering a marked decrease of 9.54% was the collection on market fees since occupancy at the second floor of the Malimgas Public Market remains poor.

Total collection from market fees amounted to P25.9 million, lower by P2.7 million over the 2006 collection.

Income from fishery rental and charges was cut by almost half at P1.4 million in 2007 from P2.7 million previously.

City Agriculturist Emma Molina attributed the decrease to the implementation of Ordinance No. 1897-2007, which granted a 50% discount on the payment of aqua lease agreement fees by fish pen operators.

The summary of collections of the city last year is as follows: January, P66,625,800.90; February, P38,412,175.83; March, P39,634,964.01; April, P21,390,974.46; May, P4,797,074.52; June, P9,348,675.32; July, P21,635,560.90; August, P4,108,748.13; September, P9,172,847.32; October, P21,149,046.68; November, P4,069,140.99; and December, P9,291,931.07.—LM
