Mass baptism for 757 children

Some 757 children of all ages were baptized as Roman Catholics in a mass baptism sponsored by Dagupan City Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr. and Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, who stood as “ninong” and “ninang“, last December 28 that coincided with the observance of the Church’s Holy Innocents Day.

The event dubbed as ‘Binyagan 2007′ at the CSI Stadia and Jimmy L. Fernandez Center at Lucao, formed part of the Dagupan City Fiesta celebration from December 16 to 30.

It was the biggest mass baptism yet in the city attended by some 3,000 relatives and friendsof the children.

The mass baptism was officiated jointly by Msgrs. Rafael Magno and Ayong Morales and Frs. Jerry Cera, Bert Arenos and Hernan Caronongan.

Also present during the mass baptism were Councilors Farah Decano, Librada Reyna, Alfie Fernandez, Alfredo Quinto and Karlos Reyna.

The staff of the City Nutrition Office headed by Leah Aquino, including barangay scholars assisted parents and their toddlers during the mass baptism.

After the mass baptism ceremony, both Mayor Fernandez and Vice Mayor Fernandez distributed gifts to their new God-children and their parents.— LM
