A roving salesman was killed after the car he was driving rammed into a concrete post in front of a school in barangay Bolosan here past midnight Thursday.

P/Supt. Dionicio Borromeo, Dagupan police chief, identified the fatality as Jimmy Episcope, 33, a resident of the nearby town of Mangaldan and a sales agent of the company Marina Sales.

Initial investigation showed the victim was driving a Toyota car with plate number UAM-458 that smashed into a concrete post in front of the PIMSAT Colleges.

SPO1 Andres Clores, desk investigator at the police community precinct in the area told The PUNCH that the area is accident-prone.

Clores said most of the victims in previous accidents in the area died.

In Episcope’s case, the strong impact of the crash pinned him inside the car and caused him serious injuries.

Witnesses said the victim was driving fast when the accident happened.

The victim was brought to the Region I Medical Center (RIMC) where he was declared dead on arrival.

“Nahirapan kaming alisin ang biktima sa kotse dahil naipit ito (We had a hard time getting the victim out of the car because he was pinned),” Clores said.

The barangay tanods and concerned citizens had to help remove the victim from the car.—CSR
