Rosales clinches 35th SM mall
ROSALES–An SM Department Store will soon rise here, the first in the province and the 35th in the retail giant’s chain of malls around the country.
Initial fencing is already ongoing around the nine-hectare site in Barangay Carmen, according to Mayor Ricardo Revita.
Construction work for the initial one-storey building is expected to start soon after. The target opening date is October next year.
Revita, in an interview with The PUNCH, said he is thrilled by the investment as this will enhance the economic situation of this largely agricultural town.
The proposed mall project was immediately approved by the local government following SM’s commitment to prioritize locals in their hiring.
About 3,000 jobs will be given to the town’s residents.
SM has also acquired properties in Dagupan and Urdaneta cities, the two main business hubs in Pangasinan, but plans to construct a mall have yet to take shape.
Rosales is strategically located on the eastern side of Pangasinan and is close to the provinces of Tarlac and La Union, neither of which has an SM mall yet.#
