San Fabian’s products now in Pasalubong center
SAN FABIAN–A Pasalubong Center will be opened here early this month to showcase and promote this town’s products as well as those in other towns within the province.
Natalie Dalaten, chief of the business development division of the Pangasinan office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), told The PUNCH that the center is a part of the One Town, One Product (OTOP) program of the government.
The San Fabian Pasalubong Center is a project of the DTI with the local government of San Fabian, the Pangasinan Council of Women Inc. (PCWI)-San Fabian chapter headed by Mrs. Irene Libunao, wife of San Fabian Mayor Mojamito Libunao.
Dalaten said the center will serve as a stall and exhibit of local products not only from the town but also the other towns and cities of the province.
This coastal town is known for its dried fish like pingka and is also a popular tourism destination for its beach area.
Dalaten said DTI provincial director Peter Mangabat and Mayor Libunao will lead in the formal opening of the said center.
Dalaten added thatGov. Amado Espino Jr. has also expressed interest in putting-up similar centers in the towns of Lingayen and Manaoag and in the cities of Alaminos and Urdaneta.
Aside from tourist spots like the Hundred Islands National Park in Alaminos City and the pilgrimage town of Manaoag, the province is rich in unique products like processed bangus, tapa from Mangaldan, duhat wine from Bugallon town, moscuvado sugar of Mapandan, puto of Calasiao, bagoong and pastries from Lingayen, and rice crackers of Bayambang town.—CSR
