Dancing traffic enforcers ease traffic jam stress
STUCK in a stressful Dagupan traffic jam?
Not to worry because dancing traffic enforcers will come to the rescue managing vehicular flow while providing entertainment through their dancing skills. Yes, dancing while untangling traffic.
The three Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) dancing traffic enforcers – Cassius Clay Alcaide, Vladimir Juliano and Gerard Villamil – had their initial performance last week to the delight of motorists.
The three recently passed the audition conducted by the Dagupan City government among 50 field enforcers.
“It’s really a sight to behold and judging from people’s reactions, they were indeed entertained. People were clapping their hands, motorists brought out their cellular phones and took some pictures of them dancing while many danced too,” POSO Chief Robert Erfe-Mejia told The PUNCH.
They will be stationed in three alternate routes along the intersection of A.B. Fernandez Avenue-M.H. del Pilar and Arellano Streets from 7:00 to 8:30 a.m., then along the intersection in Rizal St.-PerezBoulevard and Rizal Extension from 11:30 to 12:30 noontime and from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. along the Welcome Rotonda in Mayombo-M.H.del Pilar-Perez Boulevard.
Mejia said more dancing enforcers may be posted in other strategic areas all year-round if the project proves to be well-received by the public.
Mejia, however, stressed that the enforcers have been reminded “not to be immersed in their dancing and instead focus on controlling traffic”.#
