Curfew ordinance for minors in Calasiao passed
LINGAYEN–Curfew hours will soon be imposed on minors in the town of Calasiao.
The proposed ordinance containing the regulation has been approved by the provincial board on first last Monday and it has been referred to the appropriate committee for further review.
The ordinance, sponsored by Councilor Emmanuel Manipud, cites the need to protect the children against violence, addiction, juvenile delinquency, and enhance peace and order in the municipality.
The curfew covers those 18 years old and below and will be in effect from 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.
Exemptions are when the minor is accompanied by his parents, guardian, relatives or an adult person in charge of his or her custody; when engaged ina lawful pursuit of livelihood or providing assistance in lawful activity; when going to or coming from scholastic functions like evening classes, commencement exercises and other academic activities; or when on an errand to save life or property.
Other exemptions cover going to or coming from any religious, social, civic, or sports programs and when arriving or leaving for travel purposes.
The curfew will also be lifted on the days before and after Christmas Day, New Year’s Day, Election Day and similar events of public interest and two days before and after the town fiesta as well as the barangay fiesta.
Violators of the ordinance will be placed under temporary protective custody of the police officer on duty at the police headquarters but only for the remaining period of curfew hours or upon the request of parents, guardians, or any immediate member of the family.#
