Resuello: Hasten probe of my father’s murder
SAN CARLOS CITY–Mayor Julier Resuello is crying out for justice.
The young mayor, whose father, former Mayor Julian Resuello, was gunned down at the height of the campaign for the May election, said he is beginning to fear that the killing of his father will remain among the many unsolved killings in the province.
More than six months since the crime, “Nothing has happened yet,” lamented Resuello, the eldest among the 23 children of the slain mayor.
“Naiinip na rin ako (I’m also getting impatient),” he said.
The special group called Task Force Resuello, formed by Senior Superintendent Isagani Nerez, police provincial director, is still tracking down the main suspect, Cesar de Guzman, alias
Kabesa, a known hired assassin with a P1 million bounty on his head.
The other suspect, Angelito Soriano, who was captured immediately after the killing, is detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology here.
Resuello said he is determined to push for the resolution of the case even if it takes years.
Resuello won by a large margin during the election, along with his younger brother, Joseres, who substituted for their slain father for vice mayor.
CLEARED
In a related development, the Office of the Ombudsman has dismissed two cases filed against the late Resuello and his son, the incumbent mayor, who used to be the city’s vice mayor.
The dismissal of the cases, involving alleged violation of the Election Law, malversation of public funds, and abuse of authority and grave misconduct, is contained in an order signed last month by Ombudsman Mercedita Navarro-Gutierrez.
The cases were dismissed for lack of probable cause and substantial evidence
The complaint was initially submitted to the Commission on Audit which earlier dismissed it as baseless. #
