Provincial gov’t will hold forum with investors
LINGAYEN–The provincial government will host a forum with senior managers of the Business Process Outsourcing Association of the Philippines within the month to determine why investors have been shying away from Pangasinan despite the vast resources it offers.
Alex Ferrer, head of the Provincial Employment Service Office (PESO), said they want to hear from the businessmen why they have not been keen on investing in the province.
“We want to know what to do to attract investors,” Ferrer said.
He said they believe that it only takes one big company to invest in Pangasinan and this will have a domino effect on others to be encouraged to “invade” Pangasinan.
In his first 100 days report, Governor Amado Espino Jr. also pointed out that despite being endowed with scenic sights like the world-famous Hundred Islands and many other natural attractions, Pangasinan has the third lowest number in tourist arrivals within the region.
“For so many years, Pangasinan has not been conducive to investments because it lacked the basic support industries, facilities and services that can adequately protect and promote large industrial operations and other big time businesses,” Espino said. #
